I really don't know how to define Alcazar, it is definitely a place made up of a mixture of things. You can see why in the next set of photos. Imagine Moorish, Spanish Roman Catholic-Renaissance-Mythical Greek mashed up together, that's what Alcazar is in a nutshell. There are so many layers of history to this place which makes it ever more interesting. The last quarter of the set includes photos taken from Metropol Parasol. It is a great structure, my favourite would be the antiquarium down in the basement (not pictured). It was one of my favourite things in Sevilla for sure. As an ancient history fan, it was only natural to love this sort of place. The preservation work is very commendable, it really just shows that this sort of preservation can be achieved in the midst of modern construction above it. Ahh, it was just lovely to see it in real life. I wonder what Pompeii would do to me!
Okay, I still have an unresolved question about the rubbish bins. What are they really for? Why are there so many in one place? That aside, I love downtown/old quarter Sevilla because it screams out urban lifestyle where everything is in your reach. Very convenient and not to mention, a very social place as well. Love it!
Ciao ciao! Paris next stop, bonsoir for now!
xx
