Self-reliance

To what extent does that even really mean? We know only as a cohort, can humankind achieve anything unless you want to live in the jungle with the monkeys. I don't like the connotation of this word; it's almost saying that we do not need to depend on any other human being out there. As a matter of fact, no lifestyle can be totally labelled as self-reliant. Just because you plant your vegie garden, own a composting toilet and utilise solar panels to generate electricity, I still don't think it is right to be call it a self-reliant lifestyle. You would still need human interaction and support at the end of the day. Plus, come to think of it, your seeds come from a farmer, your toilet is probably made in china and the same goes with your solar panels. The fact that these items were made by someone else other than you clearly delineates your reliance on them. Middle of the night rant is now over, off to sleep.
